I really hope y'all consider doing Detective Ridiculous every year as not only the April Fools episode but also as the Halloween Episode. I understand why you can't continue it but, honestly, this was one of my favorite true crime/weird shit podcasts out there. Thanks for mentioning Uzas again. Uzas doesn't seem like some kind of airhead or decrepit old man - he reminds me of people I've known who had serious addictions or severe neuro/psychiatric disabilities. They're sometimes disoriented, and their disordered minds alienate them from their close relations, but they're still doing their best... except when something tips them back into whatever their particular madness is. For some people it's delusions, or paranoia, or using whatever they're addicted to (and that includes things like gambling or self-harming). For Uzas, it's bloodshed. Aaron Dembski-Bowden did a masterful job in leading us to love, and eventually grieve, a man addicted to violence and murder.

Honestly, with the death of Sevatar being a big question mark, I would be pretty happy if they brought him back rather than Curze in the 41M for a new mini with the Nightlord Codex. Could also make changes to him due to Warp, or something else related.

Honesty is what the Nightlords do really that dissimilar to what the imperium does? No not really they make more of an individual spectacle and scene rather than the ever present oppression of the Imperium. There was a Night Lord psyker in the Charcaradon book Red Tithe known as the Flayed Father and if I remember right he was the brother of the Charcaradons own Chief Librarian. Apparently he’s also old enough to remember the exterminatus of Nostramo. The rest of his group do not like him due to him consorting with Daemons for more power.

“The Long Night” is one of my favorite 40K stories. I listened to an audiobook version on here and the “I am justice, I am judgment, I am punishment, and I surrender” has stuck with me

Who's to say that Sevatar couldn't come back to modern 40k lore in much the same fashion as the fallen dark angels? If he was still a prisoner of the dark angels when they got sucked into the warp during the destruction of Caliban, then couldn't Games Workshop just inject him back into 40k in a similar fashion to the fallen?

This is one of those books that I think actually does suffer a bit in audiobook format, specifically because of the narrators. In the text version, you don't get told that the Inquisitor doing the editing is female. Unless you were paying attention to the name in the introduction, you don't realise that the charming singer is the Inquisitor until much later. Penelope Rawlins does an excellent job, but simply having a female voice do the footnotes kinda gives away the big twist.

"Death to the false emperor" implies that big E gained control of the imperium through illegitimate means, but he started it? so as far as the imperial governmental power structures are concerned he is basically incapable of being a "false" emperor? I know it's kind of nit-picky but like, why not just take the word "false" out of the phrase?
